Education
Dr. Hongbin Zhang obtained his B.Sc. degree from Yunnan University (1985), and his M.Sc. degree from the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences (1988). He obtained his PhD from the Research School of Chemistry in Australian National University (1998) under the supervision of Professor Lewis, N. Mander. He then worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis. He joined the Division of Chemical Science of Yunnan University in June 2000 as a Professor of organic chemistry. He is Director of the Key Laboratory of Medicinal Chemistry for Natural Resource.
Research Interests
Research in my group is focused on developing methodology for the synthesis of structure units presented in natural products and pharmaceuticals. We are currently focused at the total synthesis of complex biologically active terpene indole alkaloids.
